Using "Quotation" Marks (Co-Construction)

Directions: Read the following sentences. Decide if they are correct the way they are or if they need to have quotation marks added to them. If the need quotation marks re-type the sentence in the box below each sentence. If they do not need quotation marks click in the book that states correct as is.

1. Republican candidate Romney promised voters that if elected, he would work closely with Democratic lawmakers.

 

2. On November 6, we're going to come together for a better future, said Romney.

 

3. Romney said, I'll reach across the aisle to people in the other party because this time demands bringing America together.

 

4. Obama, the Democratic candidate, also promised to focus on cooperation.

 

5. As long as I'm President, I will work with anybody of any party to move this country forward, Obama said.

 

6. Romney tried to show that a vote for him is a vote for change.

 

7. Obama worked to convince voters that he needed four more years to finish the job he started in 2008.

 

8. America, I never said this journey would be easy, and I won't promise that now, the President said.
